CEFR is how language levels are measured across Europe. A1 is beginner, A2 is elementary, B1 is intermediate, and B2 is upper intermediate. Most visa, study, and work applications want A1 to B2.
Start with A1 if you're new to German or only know a few words. Try A2 if you can introduce yourself, order food, and handle basic conversations. The test will tell you if you picked the wrong level.
