About 3 minutes · examples, common mistakes, Hindi help and practice with answers
In short
-bar means it can be done. -ig and -isch turn a noun into an adjective.
die Sonne → sonnig · waschen → waschbar · der Typ → typisch
Three endings that turn nouns and verbs into adjectives.
How it works
- -bar (can be done): waschen → waschbar, trinken → trinkbar, essen → essbar.
- -ig (having something): die Sonne → sonnig, der Wind → windig, die Lust → lustig.
- -isch (typical of / from): der Typ → typisch, Indien → indisch, die Praxis → praktisch.
Examples
- Heute ist es sonnig und warm. (It's sunny and warm today.)
- Die Jacke ist waschbar. (The jacket is washable.)
- Wir kochen heute indisch. (We're cooking Indian food today.)
- Das ist typisch deutsch! (That's typically German!)
हिंदी-bar = जो किया जा सके (waschbar = धोने लायक)। -ig और -isch से noun का adjective बनता है: sonnig = धूप वाला।
