Hören Teil 1: Globalverstehen (tasks 41 to 45)
Five people each say something short about the same topic, for example shopping online or living in the city. You hear every text only once. For each speaker there is one statement, and you decide whether it is true or false. Each correct answer is worth 5 points.
- You get time to read the five statements before the audio starts. Use all of it.
- Underline the part of each statement that can be wrong: a reason, a number, immer, nie, lieber.
- Listen for the speaker's main opinion. One speaker, one statement.
- Decide straight away. The text is not repeated.
Hören Teil 2: Detailverstehen (tasks 46 to 55)
One longer conversation, usually an interview, played twice. Ten statements follow the order of the conversation. Each correct answer is worth 2.5 points.
- On the first listening, mark the answers you are sure about and put a question mark next to the others.
- On the second listening, concentrate on the question marks only.
- Listen for numbers, times and places. Statements often change one of them: 18 kilometres becomes 36.
- If you miss one answer, let it go. The next statement is already coming.
Hören Teil 3: Selektives Verstehen (tasks 56 to 60)
Five short everyday texts: a station announcement, a message on an answering machine, a radio weather report, an announcement in a shop. Each one is played twice and has one statement. Each correct answer is worth 5 points.
- Read the statement first and decide what you need: a time, a platform, a day, who does what.
- Announcements give several numbers. Only one of them belongs to your statement.
- Use the second listening to check, not to start again.
| Part | What you hear | Played | Tasks | Points each |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Teil 1 | 5 short opinions on one topic | once | 5 | 5 |
| Teil 2 | 1 conversation or interview | twice | 10 | 2.5 |
| Teil 3 | 5 announcements and messages | twice each | 5 | 5 |
Typical traps
- The statement uses the same words as the audio, but with nicht or kein added or removed.
- Then and now: früher with the car, heute with the bike.
- A plan that changes inside the text: first Saturday, then Sunday after all.
- Something that is true for another person in the conversation.
How to practise
Listen to German every day for ten minutes: radio news, a podcast for learners, announcements at the station. After each practice task, read the transcript and find the exact sentence that decides the answer.
